Fools For Rowan

FoolsFR-01AFools For Rowan was a female-fronted American alternative pop/rock band from Nashville, TN. The band was formed in 2009 by Erin Mullins (vocals), originally from South Dakota. The other members, currently, are Rachel Brandsness (lead guitar),FoolsFR-02 Ryan Nanney (guitar, vocals), Andrew “Gib” Williams (bass) and Jordan Cullen (drums). Fools For Rowan has performed with bands like Halestorm, Evanescence, Skillet, Trapt, Sick Puppies, Candlebox, and others. Erin’s got some pipes, and her band’s earnest alternative pop/rock just begs to be played in a promo for any teen drama on The CW or MTV. This band, like Faces of March, deserved to be on a major label. However, Fools For Rowan have disbanded, after playing their final show on July 10, 2013.

Fools For Rowan‘s debut, Twisted. Tied Up. Tangled. (2009), is an excellent set of radio-friendly alt-rock fueled by Erin’s impassioned vocals. “Burnt Around the Edges,” “Take Me Down” and “Light Me Up” are obvious hits that should’ve been, and “Tangled” is a cool Goo Goo Doll-esque hard rocker,FoolsFR-05 but the best track is the ballad “I Don’t Have The Strength.” Hello? CW? Call Erin, now! Oh, and “It’s Alright” is a bouncy toe-tapper in which Erin’s guy always seems to makes her bad day better. She says: “The dog just stained my brand new Chucks.” Yeah, chicks in Chucks! They followed up in 2012 with an EP, Who Killed Amanda Day?, and a slighlty harder alternative rock sound. the single is cool, as is another Goo Goo Doll-esque hard rocker, “You Can’t Stop Me.” But, again, the best track is the ballad, “Leave.” It’s just Erin’s sadly beautiful voice over an electric guitar strumming minor chords, and nothing else but awesome.
