Belle is a female-fronted alternative pop/rock band from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The band is fronted by Adrielle Gauer (vocals), with Pablo Nechi (guitar), Dinho (bass) and Francis Lima (drums). The fifth, Nigéria, is a former member. Belle is similar to Fake Number in that both are female-fronted Brazilian bands who play Paramore-inspired alternative pop/rock. And, like Elektra, Adri sings in Portuguese; but, unlike Fake Number, Belle incorporates the occasional male vocal (courtesy of Nechi). However, I think Belle has broken up, after releasing only one album, Histórias (2010). In 2011, Adri tried out for Ídolos Brazil but, sadly, didn’t even make it past the audition phase. The judges, it seems, hated her performance. But, undeterred, she has, apparently, embarked on a solo career. You go, girl!
Histórias is a cool album, and I play it whenever I get on my often recurring Brazilian pop/rock kick. “Incerteza” was the single, and the video is how I, by chance, discovered this band. Admittedly, I was taken more by Adri than the song, which isn’t bad, but she is sexy as Hell in that video! “Nada vai mudar,” “24 Horas” and “Sonhos” are some of my favorites, but “Consciencia” and “Recomeçar” are cool, too. And “Não Vá” is, simply, an amazing ballad. I wonder if the Ídolos Brazil judges, especially the woman, ever heard that song. Probably not. Adri’s vocals shine on another excellent ballad, the acoustic “Viver Bem,” which closes this awesome album. Those judges suck!

And, watch Adrielle’s Ídolos Brazil audition, for two reasons. First, Adri is amazingly beautiful. Second, she kind of resembles Cassadee Pope, who won the third season of NBC‘s The Voice in 2012. Pope, if you don’t know, also use to front a Paramore-inspired alternative pop/rock band called Hey Monday. Weird, huh?
OK, maybe her audtion wasn’t perfect, but the girl can sing. Watch her here:
