Valora is an American alternative hard rock band from Whittier, CA, formed in 2008, and fronted by sexy Syd Duran (vocals). The other members are Syd’s sister Taelor Duran, Jared Baez, Kenneth Benson, Drew Zaragoza and Tim Peugh.Valora plays alternative hard rock similar to Halestorm and Evanescence. Duran has stated that she loves Evanescence, and that Amy Lee is a singer she admires. But, she also loves Jack White and The Pretenders. Syd Duran was also named “The Hottest Chick in Hard Rock” in the July/August 2011 issue of Revolver magazine.
Valora‘s debut CD I Waited For You was released in 2012 on Hollywood Records. Or was it? The Halestorm-ish title track was the first single, and was promoted heavily in anticipation of the album’s April 2012 release. What happened? “No Matter What” was even featured in the film The Last Song (2010) with Miley Cyrus, and “Extreme” was a bonus track on Almost Alice(2010), a compilation of music inspired by Tim Burton‘s film Alice In Wonderland. In addition, Syd Duran was featured on a re-mixed version of Breaking Benjamin‘s “Blow Me Away” for inclusion on their 2011 collection, Shallow Bay: The Best of Breaking Benjamin. So, what happened? I want to buy this album on iTunes, or wherever, and listen to other infectious cuts like “Better When You Don’t Know Better” and “You Make It OK,” the heartrending “Irreversible,” and two tracks co-written with Kara DioGuardi, “Forgotten” and “I Like What You’re Doing.” But, I can’t.
